Jenkins Family Christmas

Hey, It's the holiday's!  My wife likes nothing more than great holiday festivities so over the past couple years I've been trying to make her face shine brighter and brighter every holiday season. This year we've stepped it up a notch:Take a photo of your own holiday and use the hashtag #jenkinsfamilychristmas to make our Christmas Tree and Home come to life with holiday cheer.   When you use the hashtag on a new photo you've just taken, our tree will light up and play christmas music, and the lights outside our home will flash with holiday cheer!

At the end of the season we'll be picking our favorites from this year and posting and compiling them for a post here, and on My Corner View.

Don't be shy, post many and often in order to keep our home filled with joy!

Football As Football

You've probably seen this piece floating around the internet.  I just never had time to blog it until this morning. This is a pretty cool exploration of if American Football teams followed the suit of their predecessors in the World's football and made their branding in the same style.

They even go as far as to make these American football logos in English, Spanish, Italian, and German styles.  In what I can only exclaim as being one of the best looking representations of American football branding I've ever seen.

A pretty awesome exploration of athletic organization branding.  Let me tell you, if American Football logo looked like this, and was much more understated, I'd wear all kinds of team gear.  Plus I love how the forty niners are represented.

Professional Typographer

This is a nice example of the future of commercial filmmaking.  This is a beautiful piece on Gemma O'Brien who is a professional typographer based in Australia.  This piece is primarily on her craft, her art, and how she see's the world.  However, the piece she is working on throughout the film is a billboard advertisement for Kirin Cider.  You don't feel that you've been advertised to, however, you subconsciously see that Kirin Cider has posted the film (on Vimeo primarily a filmmakers video sharing site). It feels very authentic as far as short documentary goes, but it is a commissioned piece by Kirin Ciders.   I love the work, the imagery is wonderful and the story is great.  The future of commercial work exists on the internet.  Not as forced advertisements to watch before you see your video on YouTube, but in beautiful orchestrated pieces loosely tied to their financing.  Nice work by the director, as well as Kirin Ciders for taking this route.

Holiday Travels in Stills

Hope your Thanksgiving holiday was great and you're getting all set and prepared for the onslaught of craziness that will be the Season coming straight at you.  We're all set and ready for a nice week visiting with family and friends.  However, before we get too far into that, we were just going through and editing some photo's taken during our ultra relaxing Thanksgiving weekend.  Although I got sick on Thanksgiving day and my wife spent all day cooking a nice vegetable only feast for us to enjoy.  We still both found some time to smile, relax and enjoy each other.  It felt great to have a casual holiday with no real expectations at all.  Hope yours was as nice.

Father To Son To Son

This is a wonderful commercial piece for Stephen Kenn.  He's a furniture, bag, and accessory maker out of the Los Angeles area.  Partnered up with Process Creative and created this awesome piece about passing something down. A bag that will stand the test of time, family and relationships.  Strikes a chord being a new father, but also paired with the beautiful imagery and creativity.  Being able to tap into a man's sense of tradition and legacy.  Wonderful piece.

Cold Water Surf

If you need to waste about 8 minutes of your lonely Tuesday sitting at your computer this is a nice piece to do so with.   You don't necessarily need the music and for me it got a bit too hectic at times.  The imagery is enough to push you through.  If you need to fast forward a bit at times do so, you're able to pop in and out of this piece at will.  Some really beautiful moments caught while camping out in Iceland.  Nice piece!

Best Present Day Filmaker

If you were wondering why Wes Anderson is considered by many to be the best present day filmaker, its because all of his films are phenomenal. On top of having the balls to film and produce this film entirely in 4:3 (Standard Definition TV formatting)? I mean, talk about risk and reward. I guess if you've proven yourself as many times as Wes Anderson has studio's will let you do whatever the hell you want. On top of allowing you to hire more and more quality talent. Look at this cast! Thanks to my wife for the link. So stoked to see The Grand Budapest Hotel in theaters.

Walks With The Boy

I spent about two weeks as primary caretaker for my son while transitioning my wife back to her day job. (Her real job is mama, just like mine is papa) Every night around 5PM he'd get really restless and want to go do something. Go outside and just see some new stuff. So I decided to start strapping him on and grabbing my camera to take some snapshots. This day was unique as we were out right during the sweet spot of the sun falling on the horizon. There weren't many clouds and it was an exceptionally beautiful walk for the both of us. (He was a happy camper). Here are a few snaps from this stroll. The Morning Dance

While you may have noticed that a majority of the content of this blog has disappeared, you may also be wondering what content will be put up because of our forced rebuild. My life has changed so much over the past 4 months.  I'm not really sure where to begin.  I'm not sure that you're even all that interested in how my life has changed and what it all means.  Instead of writing for a few hours to explain to you somehow where I am in my life currently.   I'm just going to do my best to continue to post photographs and films from my current life and see if that convey's some sort of message of who and what I've become.   Or you'll just think I'm being another self serving guy with a blog on the internet.

Coming Back From Catastrophic Failure
